AAMA’s Southeast Region Code Consultant, Dwight Wilkes, confirms in the news section of AAMA’s website that revised language in Section 1710.5 of the recently published 2014 Florida Building Code-Building does not infer that side-hinged exterior doors are required to test to AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/IS2/A440 (NAFS). There has been concern from door manufacturers and pre-hangers, and indeed initially from WMA (see WMA Codes and Standards Update), that language modifications to this section of the code, which was originally proposed by AAMA, intended that all doors, including side-hinged exterior doors, test to NAFS.
