Hanley Wood Data Studio reports in Builder that the 2015 Smart Market Report on Green and Healthier Homes: Engaging Consumers of All Ages in Sustainable Living was released last Wednesday.  It surveyed a total of 249 builders, remodelers, multifamily firms, and interviewed 9 homebuyers who had purchased a home within the last year.  “Our studies demonstrate that home builders still think of green homes as an important trend,” said Dr. Donna Laquidara-Carr, industry insights research director at Dodge Data & Analytics, during a presentation Wednesday at the 2015 Greenbuild Conference in Washington, D.C.  Nearly one-third of builders report that over 60% of their home projects this year included green technology.  Builders are driven by multiple factors to build greener homes, including the following five, which builders find all equally important, according to Dr. Laquidara-Carr: 1.)customer demand (68%), 2) energy cost increases (66%), 3) green product availability and affordability (66%), 4) greater valued recognized appraisers (66%), and 5) code, ordinance, and regulation changes (65%).  Read More in BuilderOnline>
