Who is World Millwork Alliance?

World Millwork Alliance (WMA) is a wholesale distribution association. Our alliance is dedicated to the progression and prosperity of the millwork industry, including the support of a highly skilled workforce. We engage in advocacy efforts on behalf of our member-businesses, fostering a united millwork trade community that delivers innovative products and services for the benefit of the millwork industry as a whole.

The most successful millwork professionals recognize the need to be united through the WMA millwork association and community. A membership in WMA provides unlimited opportunities to network and learn from our vast reservoir of experienced and knowledgeable members including distributors, manufacturers of products and services, manufacturer reps, and co-operative and group purchasing organization leaders.

Southern Sash & Door Jobbers Association

Founded in 1931, the Southern Sash & Door Jobbers Association was established to unite millwork distributors across the southern United States. At a time when the industry faced growing challenges and evolving demands, the association provided a collective voice, fostering collaboration among members and promoting best practices in the distribution of sash, doors, and other millwork products. This regional alliance laid the foundation for industry standards and connections that would strengthen the millwork trade for decades to come.

Northern Sash & Door Jobbers Association

Founded in 1935, the Northern Sash & Door Jobbers Association brought together millwork distributors in the northern United States, creating a unified network to address the specific needs and challenges of the region. Through its efforts, the Northern Sash & Door Jobbers Association played a pivotal role in advancing the millwork trade and laying the groundwork for future industry alliances.

National Sash & Door Jobbers Association

In 1963, the Southern and Northern Sash & Door Jobbers Associations merged to form the National Sash & Door Jobbers Association (NSDJA). This unification created a national platform for millwork distributors, combining the strengths and expertise of both regions. The NSDJA became a driving force in the industry, advocating for its members, fostering innovation, and standardizing practices across the country. By uniting the millwork community under one banner, the NSDJA set the stage for decades of growth and progress.

Association of Millwork Distributors

Recognizing the evolving nature of the millwork industry, the National Sash & Door Jobbers Association rebranded as the Association of Millwork Distributors (AMD) in 2003. This name change reflected a broader focus, encompassing a wider range of industry participants and emphasizing the importance of distribution in the millwork value chain. Under its new identity, the AMD continued to advocate for its members, expand its educational offerings, and adapt to the changing needs of a dynamic industry.
