WMA Ignite Leadership Conference

WMA members came together at the Ignite Leadership Conference for three days of social networking, team building and education at the JW Marriott Starr Pass in Tucson.three golfers photo

The conference program kicked off with WMA’s Golf Tournament on two of Arnold Palmers’ designed courses. The next day, members engaged in roundtable discussions identifying industry challenges, solutions and sharing best practices.

Afterwards, attendees were challenged in a team building event where member groups tempted a panel of judges by creating their own signature chili concoction and used their marketing abilities to brand and promote their special recipe. Later some headed off to tour the Pima Air and Space Museum.

The final day, attendees recognized and overcame the obstacles in business strategy and environment, management and operational effectiveness and employee development in an interactive education session with industry expert, Dr. Michael Workman.

As the sunset disappeared behind the picturesque Tucson Mountains, attendees enjoyed an evening of southwestern cuisine and said “adios” to fellow WMA members.

Ignite Leadership Conference Testimonials

“I particularly enjoyed the roundtable session which gave opportunity to learn challenges and opportunities our companies face collectively and get/share insights on dealing with them. The speaker also did a nice job of provoking thought about several aspects of businesses as distributors.”
Jeff Stuewe, Bayer Built Woodworks, Inc.
“It is always good to see old friends but what I enjoy the most is that every year I learn something new and meet new friends.”
Robbie Higginbotham, SSI Millwork
“The Ignite Leadership Conference is a great opportunity for new and tenured leaders to work together in team building and learning more about issues impacting the building materials and distribution market. The roundtable discussion topics were right in line with what many companies are facing today whether they be a supplier of components or distributor of building materials.”
