NFRC Extends Certification Cycle to Five Years

NFRC’s Board of Directors has approved extending the NFRC product certification cycle from four years to five years. This change takes effect on March 1, 2016.  The five-year certification cycle will apply only to products certified or recertified on or after March 1, 2016.

New Home Sales Rise 10.7 Percent in October

Sales of newly built, single-family homes rose 10.7 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 495,000 units in October, according to newly released data from HUD and the U.S. Census Bureau.

Consumer Confidence Retreated in November

The Conference Board released the Consumer Confidence Index for November, reporting that the index dropped sharply to 90.4 in November, following a moderate decrease in October. Both subcomponents contributed to the decline. The present situation index declined to 108.1 from 114.6 in October; the expectations index slipped to 78.6 from 88.7 in October.

NFPA 80: Overview of the Installation and Maintenance Requirements for Fire Door Assemblies

Webinar Details:
The Technical Committee of NFPA 80 has revised the requirements for the inspections of fire-rated assemblies beginning with the 2007 Edition. Requirements for annual fire door assembly inspections include visual inspections, testing for functional operational, and acceptance testing by qualified persons with knowledge and understanding of the operating components of the type of assembly being subject to testing.

This webinar will provide a detailed review of NFPA 80: Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives to assist participants in understanding and applying the requirements of the revised care, maintenance, and inspection requirements of NFPA 80. Specific application to health care occupancies will be discussed.
