EGGER Wood Products, an Austrian wood-based materials supplier for the furniture, construction and flooring industries, is expected to invest $700 million into a new plant at Davidson County’s I-85 Corporate Center, with plans to add as many as 770 new manufacturing jobs over 15 years.

The announcement, which was made Monday afternoon by the Davidson County Economic Development Commission, comes after state officials today approved a $5.3 million Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) for EGGER to expand with 400 jobs in Davidson County by 2022 and invest $300 million, said Beth Gargan, spokesman for the N.C. Department of Commerce.  “The company is already looking ahead to phases two and three of their expansion in the U.S. and hopes to create as many as 770 jobs and invest $700 million,” she said.
