Second Quarter 2016 Results

Huttig Building Products, Inc.(“Huttig”), a leading domestic distributor of millwork, building materials and wood products, reported financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2016.

WMA Remembers Thomas R. Kerr II

It is with sadness that World Millwork Alliance informs WMA members that Thomas R. Kerr II passed away. Many in the millwork industry remember Thomas R. Kerr II who worked in sales and purchasing for Reeb Millwork in Bethlehem, for over 30 years. Tom will be missed by WMA members and all in the millwork industry. Our condolences go out to the Kerr Family.

Private Residential Construction Spending
Stalls in June

NAHB analysis of Census Construction Spending data shows that total private residential construction spending for June registered a seasonally adjusted rate of $445.8 billion, virtually unchanged from the May downwardly revised estimate. Private nonresidential construction spending fell for a third consecutive month in June, down by 1.3%.

U.S. Residential Window-Door Market Forecast to Rise
6.0% Annually to 2020

Demand nationwide for residential windows and doors will rise 6.0% per year to become a $25.6 billion market by 2020, the Freedonia Group predicts.

Custom and Spec Home Market Shares in 2015

Custom home building registered declining market shares across all regions of the Unites States in 2015, except the New England and East South Central division where the custom home share of new single-family starts remained stable and relatively high. NAHB’s analysis of the most recent Census Bureau’s Survey of Construction (SOC) shows that New England registered the highest custom home market share, close to 43 percent. The East South Central division where custom home building is also common, showed the second highest market share of 39%, though a few percent down since a year ago.

Construction Industry Employment Drops
for Second Consecutive Month

After five years of positive growth in construction employment, ADP’s National Employment Report estimates that approximately 6,000 construction jobs were lost in July, following the loss of 5,000 construction jobs reported in June.

Building Performance Analysis Focus of
ASHRAE 2017 Modeling Conference

The need for practical building modeling applications, along with the need to transform the design approach to a collaborative process with a sequential process, will be explored in an upcoming specialty conference organized by ASHRAE.

The 2017 ASHRAE Building Performance Analysis Conference takes place Sept. 27-29, 2017 in Atlanta. The conference, formerly known as the ASHRAE Energy Modeling, has a broadened scope that encompasses all uses for and aspects of modeling and the professionals responsible for that work throughout a building’s lifecycle.
