As we gather with family and friends, we are reminded this and every Thanksgiving Holiday of that which unites us to one another and from generation to generation.  It’s a time of gratitude and reflection. We all have so much to be thankful for and we at the WMA are grateful for our members, your continued support and another successful year.    We thank each of you and wish you and yours a happy holiday.

New York City to receive $300 million for affordable housing
Almost all of the least affordable cities are located in either New York or California, according to realtor.com. But now, New Yorkers, or at least those in New York City, will be getting some much-welcome relief. Read more at HOUSINGWIRE
Apartment and Condominium Market Posts Positive Gains in the Third Quarter
The Multifamily Production Index (MPI), released by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), posted a gain of three points to 53 in the third quarter. The MPI has been at 50 or above since the beginning of 2012. Read more at NAHB
Post-Recession High Set for Custom Home Building
NAHB’s analysis of Census Data from the Quarterly Starts and Completions by Purpose and Design survey indicates that the number of custom home building starts (homes built on an owner’s land, with either the owner or a builder acting as the general contractor) set a post-recession high for construction starts during the third quarter of 2016. There were 49,000 total custom starts for the quarter, compared to 47,000 for the third quarter of 2015. Read more at Eye On Housing
Housing starts see greatest leap in nearly a decade
New home construction broke its downward trend and increased significantly in October, according to a new report from the U.S. Census Bureau. Read more at HOUSINGWIRE

Even as New-Home Construction Rises, Keep an Eye on Remodelers, Latest RRI Shows
Fresh data from Metrostudy suggests that dealers should keep paying attention to their remodeler customers even as new-home construction continues to grow. The sister company to ProSales reported today that its Residential Remodeling Index (RRI) for the third quarter shows a 4.5% increase in remodeling activity nationwide compared with the third quarter of 2015. Even better, Metrostudy forecasts remodeling activity will increase another 4.4% in 2017 and 3.3% in 2018. Read more at PROSALES
NAHB Survey: AD&C Financing Standards Continue to Ease
Builders and developers continue to report easing credit conditions for acquisition, development, and construction (AD&C) loans according to NAHB’s survey on AD&C Financing. However, the pace of easing slowed somewhat in the third quarter of 2016 from the rate in the second quarter.
