Fate of US-Canada Softwood Lumber Agreement Still in Limbo
Amid the uncertainty about the renewal of U.S.-Canada Softwood Lumber Agreement comes word from British Columbia’s softwood trade envoy that there is a chance a new deal could be reached quickly – by summer or fall – but if that doesn’t happen, the talks could stretch into next year, News 1130 reported. New Residential Energy Tax Credit Estimates
In 2005, Congress established a number of energy-efficiency tax incentives related to housing that benefited new home buyers and remodeling homeowners. These policies included the tax code section 45L credit for the construction of energy-efficient homes (including for-rent residences and low-rise apartments), the 25C credit for retrofitting/remodeling existing homes, and the 25D credit for the installation of power production property in new and existing homes. Former OSHA Deputy Publicizes Workplace Citations
If you’re wondering where those strongly worded press releases announcing Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) violations have gone since January 20, you’re not alone. In the wake of President Trump’s inauguration, OSHA hasn’t issued a single press release about a severe violation — in fact, the last one was posted on January 18. However, one man is taking it on himself to get the word out about workplace safety citations. Jordan Barab, a former deputy assistant secretary at OSHA, is publishing information about violations on his blog, Confined Spaces. Read More at DWM

NYC Condo Wins First-Ever WELL Building Standard Certification
21W20, a new condominium development in the Flatiron District of Manhattan, has become the world’s first residential project to be certified under the WELL Building Standard (WELL), which focuses on enhancing occupants’ health and well-being through the built environment.
